The Ridge gourd or Sponge gourd we export to the countries are directly from the farmers of UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, Punjab, Chattisgarh, and Uttarakhand. Ridge gourd thrives well in warm and hot climatic conditions and can be grown in a wide range of soils.
Ridge gourd is cultivated both summer and rainy season crops.
Summer crop: January to April.
Rainy season crop: June to July.
In the hills of Meghalaya, the seeds are sown in April. That can be grown and supplied all over the year.
It is highly nutritious and contains vitamins like vitamin-C, Thiamin, and minerals, and dietary fiber. Ridge gourd juice is used to heal jaundice and helps in controlling diabetes. It is good for eyes & good for the hair and aids in curing piles. Also, it keeps our bodies cool and reduces heat in our bodies.
We always export the best quality of ridge gourds, especially young ridge gourds. It has sweeter tones and tastes delicious, whether it’s in Curry, Dal, or Chutney. This veggie is prepared in various ways, and it wells suits for Rotis, Plain rice and Phulkas. And the dried version of this plant is used to make the Loofah or Scrubber.
