Grapefruit, citrus tree of the Rutaceae family and it’s an edible fruit. It’s a citrus fruit with a flavor, large sour to semi-sweet with a tangy taste, somewhat bitter fruit. Grapefruit was introduced from Asia in the 17th century and it was named “forbidden fruit”. Its pulp is usually light yellowish, tender, and full of juice, with a peculiar mildly acid flavor. The color of the flesh varies, it may have white, pink, and red pulp.

Grapefruits are originating from Barbados, and India is one of the largest producers of pomelo and Grapefruit. Commonly known as “Chakotra” in Hindi. Grapefruit is also named as pamparamaasu or bumblimas in Tamil. It is also known as saathukudi or moosambi in Malayalam.
